With our partners in December 2020, we launched a 20-year sanitation plan for the current 350,000 residents. The plan lays the foundation for improved sanitation service delivery. Specifically in the plan, we have developed three goals:
Goal 1: Achieve equitable and financially sustainable access to safely managed sanitation for all
Goal 2: Ensure clarity in mandates and market Malindi as the cleanest town in Kenya
Goal 3: Create jobs and build local capacities to have a thriving sanitation economy
Furthermore, Malindi will now have a waste-to-value treatment plant that is operationally sustained by the value from collected waste for years to come, benefiting the health of local residents and preserving the marine ecosystem. We’re proud to be Malindi Water’s technical partner in this journey.
